Daria Hayward has always had a love of art and science and a passion for education. She strives to create informative visuals for a range of audiences with the goal of creating well-informed patients, competent students, and confident medical professionals.

Daria began her medical illustration journey by attending Kendall College of Art and Design of Ferris State University, where she earned a BFA in Medical Illustration. While attending KCAD, she published her first children’s book, All About Your Body, which gives children an introduction to the different organ systems. After graduating with Honors, Daria completed a medical illustration internship at Arthrex, where she illustrated arthroscopic orthopedic procedures and medical devices.

Following her internship, Daria decided to further her education by earning a MS of Medical Illustration at Augusta University. While at AU, she worked directly with medical professionals and educators to create informative illustrations, animations, and interactive interfaces to educate patients, students, and medical professionals. Her patient education brochure is still in use at Wellstar MCG, and her surgical illustrations and medical models are used to teach students at Augusta University. Daria also served as the Vice President for AU's Medical Illustration Class of 2026 and worked as a research assistant.

Daria has participated in several showcases, including the AMI Student Salon and the AU Student Scientific and Medical Illustration Exhibit, in which she won an Award of Merit. She has also displayed work in the Grand Rapids Public Museum and numerous galleries.

Daria looks forward to continuing to use her artistic skills and knowledge of science and medicine to better educate others.
